About Cindy Anderson
"In the land of Oz, we are all small children walking down a road of yellow brick in a crazy, outlandish, ozzy sort of world." L.Frank Baum
Cindy Anderson is a Los Angeles/Central Coast artist, specializing in Children’s Illustrations, Graphic Design and Large Scale Portraiture. Her work has been shown at the Directors Guild of America, her 5' x 6' portrait of “Steven Spielberg” was last seen at Amblin Entertainment, and several other pieces reside in various homes across the Country.
Growing up in California, Oklahoma and Texas, over the years she has become drawn to the landscapes of old wagon wheels, tornadoes, horses & white fences that seem to go on forever. The large scale OZ painting “Courage, Heart and Brains” has been a special labor of love for Cindy. It is 1 of 3 (Dorothy's "Sleep" and the "WWWest") that are the beginnings of a much larger series of work in progress that takes OZ in a darker direction. A direction that combines our societies uncomfortable truths with the surreal elements and landscapes of OZ ...”VietnOZ”, “AfghanistanOZ”, “AfricanOZ”, “Ruby Bridges” and "Rosemary Clooney in OZ".
"Courage Heart and Brains", "Dorothy's Sleep" and the "WWWest" was displayed in the lobby of the Children and Family Services headquarters in Arroyo Grande, CA, then afterwards, next door to the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, CA during the performances of the musical “Wicked”.
